Wilmont G. "Mousey" May


Wilmont G. "Mousey" May, 79, of South New Hampshire Avenue, Wellston, died early Monday, Dec 2, at Oak Hill Community Medical Center. He was born Sept. 10, 1917, at Buckeye Furnace, Jackson, Ohio, son of Cecil May and Nannie Dickerson May Hill. He was a former stationary engineer for Lockeed Martin. A 1935 graduate of Wellston High school, he attended the No. 3 Church of Christ in Christian Union in Wellston. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard the U.S.S. Wasp, a member of the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston, a member of the Moose Lodge of Jackson, Black Diamond Lodge 538 F&AM, and a member of Jackson County Shiloh Shrine Club. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Jarvis May; two daughters, Sharon Grothaus of Idaho and Linda Coleman of Columbus; two step-sons, Robert Blue of Rio Grande and Sam Bevard of Wellston; two step-daughters, Karen Floyd and Tracey Bevard, both of Wellston; three sisters, Datha Pinkus of Akron, Betty Hayburn and Virginia Specht, both of Wellston; four [step]brothers, Marion Hill and Damon Hill, both of Wellston, Larry Hill of Cambridge and Franklin Hill of Coshocton; step-father Frank Hill of Wellston; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Paul May, Harrison May, Cloyce May and Gene Hill. Funeral services will be Thursday Dec, 5 at 11 a.m. at the Rodgers-McWilliams Funeral Home. The Rev. Johnny Thacker will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridgewood Cemetery with military graveside services by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with Masonic services being conducted by Black Diamond Lodge 538 at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
