Chet Mapes

Chet Mapes, age 59, 5891 State Route 788, Wellston, died Sunday at Medical Center Hospital, Chillicothe. He was a self-employed painter. Son of the late Guy and Mary Kelly Mapes; he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Lester. He was born June 20, 1924 in Jackson County. Survivors include his wife, Berniece Walton Mapes, two daughters, Maria Garnes of Chillicothe, and Margo Dalton of Oak Hill; three grandchildren; a brother, Howard, of Midland, Texas, and a sister, Carol Rhea, of Jackson. Services will be held at the J.P. Rogers funeral Home, Wellston, 1 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. George Sexton and the Rev. James Cummings officiating. Burial will be made in Ridgewood Cemetery.
