Willard C. "Grump" Leffler


Funeral services for Willard C. "Grump" Leffler, 65, Rt. 3, Waverly, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Omega Church of Christ in Christian Union, with Rev. Marion Conkel officiating. Burial followed in the Omega Cemetery under the direction of the Boyer Funeral Home of Waverly. Friends called at the Leffler residence in Omega after 4 p.m. Monday. The body was moved to the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Leffler died unexpectedly at 7:17 a.m. Saturday in the emergency room at Chillicothe Medical Center Hospital. He was a retired operating engineer, and a member of Local No 18 in Dayton. A native of Pike County, he was born on Oct. 6, 1909, a son of George and Mary Alice (Minnix) Leffler. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Beatrice (Maloy) Leffler at home; three sons, Gordon F. Leffler and Marvin W. Leffler, both of Rt. 3, and Billy L. Leffler of Rt. 2, Waverly; three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Mary Ellen) Anderson of Rt. 3, Waverly, Mrs. Virgil (Wilma) Uhrig of Rt. 7, Chillicothe, and Mrs. Michael (Barbara) Kershner of Brunswick, O.; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Leffler of Panorama City, Calif., and Albert Leffler of Rt. 3, Jackson; and two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Harrison of Rt. 3, Waverly, and Mrs. Margaret Aspel of Chillicothe. Mr. Leffler was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, and one sister. He attended the Omega Church of Christ in Christian Union, where the final rites were held Tuesday.
