Mary Ann Lego

The announcement of the death of Mrs. Stephen Lego who died July 31, at her home near Clay in Jefferson township, should have appeared sooner. She was a native of Pennsylvania but came to Ohio in 1846, and had lived for more than a generation in the house where she died, which by the way is now perhaps the oldest house standing in the county, having been built about 1818. Her maiden name was Mary Ann Ridgely, and she was born January 26, 1823. She was the mother of twelve children, three of whom died in infancy, a daughter named Sarah at the age of 18 years, and another daughter, Mrs. Clara Kolb after marriage. The surviving children are John W., living in the old home, Mrs. Flora Gilbert, Mrs. John Roberts and George living in this city, Marion and Mrs. Mina Herzog living in West Virginia, and Mrs. Dot Hassett. Mrs. Lego was a most estimable woman and enjoyed the esteem and regard of all who knew her.
