Hershel H. Longfellow

Hershel H. Longfellow, age 87, West Main Street, Jackson, passed away Monday, April 7, 2003, at Holzer Medical Center, Jackson. He was born Sept. 18, 1915, in Spencer, West Va., to the late Fred and Stella (Vineyard) Longfellow. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Opal; one son, Layne of Cambridge, Massachusetts; and one sister, Emily Broyles of Columbus, Ohio. Friends may call at the Mayhew Funeral Home Wednesday, April 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held graveside Thursday, April 10, at the Fairmount Cemetery at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dale Lykins officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Disabled American Veterans, Jackson County Chapter 45. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, 150 Portsmouth St., Jackson, Ohio 45640.
