Martin Kolb

Martin Kolb, one of Jackson county's most noted stock dealers, was called to the great beyond Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, after an illness of four months duration. He was 82 years of age and had spent a great deal of his life out doors, which had something to do with his longevity. The cause of death was the diseases which so often attack the age. Mr. Kolb was a native of Germany, having been reared and married in that country. Shortly after his marriage he emigrated to this country and finally landed in Jackson county where he has lived for many years. He was probably the best known stock dealer in the county. He made purchases in all the adjoining counties, and occasionally would buy up stock and take to his farm and get them ready for the market. Besides his aged wife there are four sons and three daughters as follows: Joseph and George, at home, Martin and Louis of Indiana, who could not attend the funeral, Mrs. Joseph Falters, of Ironton, Mrs. James O'Donald, and Mrs. Mary Rupert of Wellston, who were bereft of a loving husband and a dutiful father. The funeral was conducted from the Catholic church at Jackson Saturday. Interment in the Catholic cemetery.
