Robert E. Jones


Robert F. "Jonesy" Jones, 59, Logan, died Sunday, May 17, 1998, at his residence. Born April 20, 1939, River Rouge, Mich., son of Roland Oiler of Wellston and the late Edna Mae Jones, he was married to Leva M. Stover Jones, who survives. He worked for several years for Shelly-Sands Sand and Gravel Company of Zanesville. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran with service in Korea. He was commander of VFW Post 6430 of Logan from 1993 to 1997, where he was also a life member. From 1996 to 1998 he was adjutant of American Legion Post 78 of Logan. He was a member of AMVETS Post 1776 of Logan and was chaplain of the Marine Corp League Lancaster Leathernecks. He also was a former Sunday school teacher at Highlands Baptist Church, Grove City. Also surviving are son, Rick (Sheila) Jones of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Adel (Linda) Mikhale of Highlands, N.J., and Mrs. Joshua (Holly) Cox of Grove City; and nine grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Wellston. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Combined Veterans Organization of Hocking County. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 Wednesday at the funeral home.
