Awilda Eliza Johnson

Alwilda Eliza Johnson, 78, of Cockrell's Run Road, Lucasville, died Friday, November 20, 1992, at home. Born Jan 22, 1914, in the Blue Run Community, a daughter of the late Thomas and Sabra Shonkwiler McManis, she was a member of Center Street United Methodist Church in Lucasville and attended Miller's Run United Methodist Church, where she was member of its United Methodist Women's Circle. She was a member of Pocahontas, Scioto County Republican Club and Women's Club, Lucasville Historical Society, Loyal Order of Moose Auxilary of Jackson and Lucasville Chapter of Eastern Star. She was a retired employee of the former Williams Mfg Company and the former Mack's Men Shop in Portsmouth. Preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Johnson Sr., whom she married on October 12, 1932 in Greenup, Kentucky, on July 9, 1978. She is survived by five sons, Richard E. Johnson, Jr, of Jackson; John Johnson, of Indianapolis, Indiana; Wallace Johnson of Waverly; Jesse of Fostoria, and Walter of Minford Route 2; two daughters, Eloise Personett and Mary Tarr of Lucasville; two sisters, Ida Richards and Clara Wright of Portsmouth; three grandchildren whom she reared, Karen McDaniel, Timothy Johnson and Brenda Arnett, all of Lucasville; 24 other grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Ralph and Holly Johnson; a daughter, Aileen Johnson; two grandchildren, John Edward and Teressa Johnson; four brothers, Sherman, Harice, Herman and Bob McManis; and two sisters, Vena Dodds and Marie Adkins. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Center Street United Methodist Church in Lucasville, with Rev. Sidney Snyder and Rev. Bob Alexander officiating, with interment in Bennett in Fairview Cemetary on Piketon Road. Friends may call at McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and at the church Monday an hour before the service.
