Roy Hutchison

Roy Hutchison Died At Noon Thursday; Injury in Coal Mine Proves Fatal After Ten Days of Suffering in Hospital - James Roy Hutchison passed away at about noon Thursday [06 Jun 1935] at the General hospital, ten days after receiving a broken back from a fall of rock in his coal mine west of Thermopolis. Soon after Mr. Hutchison was injured, his wife received a broken leg and some cuts from another fall of rock while she was trying to help her husband. She is still in the hospital but recovering satisfactorily, and planing bravely to go on operating the mine as soon as she is able. James Roy Hutchison was born Oct. 28, 1889, at Coalton, Ohio. He was married in 1911 at Coalton to Gertrude Shook, who survives him. She also was born and reared in Ohio. They had two daughters, Elaine and Arvanna, the latter of whom died in Thermopolis three years ago while a sophomore in the Hot Springs county high school. Elaine, the older daughter, is married to Frank Brumwell and she lives in the Owl Creek valley. There are also three little grandchildren, Jimmie D., Dan Joe, and Coleen, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Brumwell. The second one of these children, Dan Joe, was given a name selected by the beloved Aunt Arvanna, the baby having been born just a week after she died. Mr. and Mrs. Hutchison and their daughters came to Wyoming in 1927. Mr. Hutchison commenced to operate the mine three years ago. He was doing well with the development of the property and was much interested in the gradual growth of his business. The mother of the deceased gentleman, Mrs. Jane H. Hutchison, still lives in Coalton, and there are three sisters, Mrs. E. G. Brohard, Mrs. Frank Craggs and Mrs. Raymond Pryon. Telegrams were sent to them announcing Mr. Hutchison's death, but it is not likely they will be able to come to Wyoming at this time.
