Col. Howard Hickman


Col. Howard Hickman, 78, of Florence Avenue, Jackson, passed away Friday evening at his home. Born in Columbus on January 11, 1925, he was the son of the Howard and Gertrude Hickman. Surviving is his wife, May F (Howard) Hickman; one son, Howard Hickman III; three grandchildren also survive. Howard was a veteran of WWII and Korea, serving in the U.S. Navy. He served for many years as deputy sheriff with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. Friends called Monday from 3-8 p.m. at the Mayhew Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Jackson Church of Christ, 13315 Route 93 in Jackson, with the Rev. Bob Jones officiating, burial followed in Hickman Cemetery. Graveside services conducted by the Jackson Post #45 Disabled American Veterans.
