Helen Jean Gabriel


Helen Jean Gabriel, 72, Lancaster, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at her residence following a brief illness. Born June 3, 1925, at Wellston, daughter of the late William and Mable Mowery McGarvey, she was the widow of Cecil Gabriel, who died Feb. 18, 1992. She was the owner and operator of a tavern in Lancaster. Surviving are two sons, Raymond L. (Cheri) Gabriel of Greenleaf, Wis., and Bruce W. Gabriel of Lancaster; three daughters, Mrs. Ray (Jeanie) Mullins of Groveport, Penny G. Myers of Anaheim, Calif., and Jody Phillips of Lancaster; twelve grandchildren, Angie, Natalie, Danny, Michael, Larry, Bruce, Chris, Troy, Bruce II, Michelle, Jennifer, Tracey and Beckie; six great-grandchildren; a niece, Terry Garner; a nephew, Michael McGarvey; and special friend Berdine Flowers of Lancaster. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles McGarvey, and a brother, Clarence "Mike" McGarvey. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, with the Rev. James Lambert officiating. Burial will be in New Plymouth Cemetery, Hocking County. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and anytime Wednesday with the family in attendance from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9.
