Patrick Edward Faber


Patrick Edward Faber ("The Professor"), age 59, of Columbus, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at OSU Medical Center from a heart attack suffered June 9, 2002. He retired in 1997 from the State of Ohio Department of Administrative Services, where he was a Programmer/Analyst Supervisor and provided computer assistance and support to various State agencies, most notably, the Legislature, and maintained the Legislative Management System for many years. He received an Associates Degree in Applied Business from Columbus Technical Institute in 1973; honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1967, where he graduated with the highest scholastic achievement of his class from the Aviation Electronics Technician School, graduated 1961 from Jackson High School in Jackson, Oh. Patrick was a fixture in the northeast OSU campus neighborhood for more than 30 years, highly visible on his daily walks with his trademark full beard, green military jacket, fuzzy lambskin hat, long scarf and hand-rolled cherry tobacco cigarettes. He regaled us all with his rambling stories, amusing jokes and his fascination with computers and electronics. He loved astrology, photography, puzzles, music and socializing in his neighborhood. Pat will be missed by many. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Brooks and Evelyn (Coffey) Faber. Survived by daughters, Jordana "Joey" Faber and Elysia Faber; granddaughter, Jamie Faber; brother, Fredrick (Suzanne) Faber; sisters, Phyllis Faber Kelley, Barbara (Jon) Elliott, Dianna Marshall and Sandra (Douglas) Parr; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial service for family and friends to be held on Saturday, July 13, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Rutherford Funeral Home, 2383 N. High St., Columbus.
