Marshall H. French


Marshall H. French, 90, formerly of Richmond Dale, died 9:13 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 1997, in Heartland of Chillicothe, following an extended illness. [N.B., He suffered from Parkinson's Disease.] He was born August 30, 1906, in the Limerick area of Jackson County, to the late Abraham and Chloe Strider French. He was married October 21, 1925, to Helen L. Creachbaum, who died November 5, 1976. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Vivian L. and Harold R. Allen, of Chillicothe; son, Howard E. French and his friend, Barbara Snyder, both of Zanesville; grandchildren, Terry A. Borland and her husband, Mike, of Laurelville, Cynthia A. Hensley and her husband, Mike, of Pataskala, Dr. Kyle R. Allen and his wife, Lynn, of Cuyahoga Falls, Terrence French and his friend, Kim, both of Columbus, Richard French and his friend, Vicki, both of Zanesville; great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Seth Borland, Vanessa and Drew French, Ryan French, Brandon, Christopher and Nicholas Allen; sisters-in-law, Ethel French, Omogene French and Bernice French, all of Richmond Dale; a devoted and loving caretaker, Bonnie Murphy; many nieces, nephews and friends. Marshall had been a farmer, a heavy equipment operator and later a salesman for the Pettibone Company, from which he had retired. He attended the Richmond Dale Church of Christ in Christian Union and was a long time member of the Morning Dawn Masonic Order in Gallipolis. He was predeceased by brothers Homer, Albert, Frank, Howard, Ralph and Harold Allen; and daugter-in-law, Helen. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Ware Funeral Home, with Rev. G.T. Wright officiating. Burial will be held in Little Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at Ware's from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Residence Council of Heartland of Chillicothe or the Jefferson Township Fire Department. [N.B. Marshall's brother Harold's middle name is Leo on his tombstone.]
