Ora S. Ervin Dies At Nearby Home

End Comes at Ervin Home at Oak Grove East of Wellston

Ora S. Ervin, prominent farmer of Milton township and well-known in Wellston, died at his home at Oak Grove, east of town near Mulga, Tuesday night at 7:15 o'clock. His health had been failing steadily for many months, but only his immediate family knew how serious was his condition. His death was a sad surprise to many friends both here and in the country. Ora Seldon Ervin was born 68 years ago in Milton township and lived practically his entire life there. He was a son of Thomas and Rebecca Melvin Ervin, and belonged to a large relationship in this county. He is survived by his wife of more than 40 years who was Miss Electa Phillips before their marriage Sept 16, 1896. Of their ten children, seven sons and two daughters are living, as follows: Ansel, Dexter and Kenneth Ervin, living in Milton township; Lawrence and Guy Ervin at New Boston; Donald Ervin at home; Doris, who is Mrs. Stephen Reed, at New Boston; and Vivian, who is Mrs. Harry Martin of Wellston. One son, Rex, died in babyhood. Mr. Ervin was a brother of Earl and J.L. Ervin of Wellston, Mrs. Eva Phillips of Milton township and Mrs. J.L. Bailey of Portland, Ore. A third sister, Miss Oma Ervin, died three years ago. The funeral will be held at the home at Oak Grove Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. L.B. Mignerey of the Jackson United Brethern church. Burial will be in the family lot at Mt. Carmel church, with Gaskill and King in charge. [NB: Eva Ervin was w/o Lorenzo Dow Phillips, the brother of Electa M. Ervin.]
