Corbett A. "Corb" Emmert


Fred H. Ely Dies, Former Mayor.

Corbett A. ("Corb") Emmert, age 74, of East Second Street, died at his home Wednesday. Death was unexpected, although he had suffered a lengthy period of ill health. He was born in Wellston August 31,1907, a son of the late William and Louella Emmert. He was a well-known Wellston resident. For a number of years he operated the Corner Market at Broadway and Ohio Avenue, first with his brother-in-law Charles Campbell, and later as the sole proprietor. After 1967 he worked with a number of other markets in the area, and was last with the Pic-Pack store. He was a singer, having been a former member of the Trinity Church Choir of Wellston, The Wellston Rotary Chorus, and was a former soloist with the Rotary Minstrel. He was a former member of the Rotary Club, as was his son Art Emmert, and now the latter's son Eric is a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Agnes, four children, Art of Hamden; Jim of Liberty, Indiana; Susan of Wellston and Arlene Finn, of Columbus, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m., at the J.P. Rogers Funeral Home, with Rev. Carl Minter officiating. Burial was in Ridgewood Cemetery.
