In Memory of Mrs. D. D. Davis

Eleanor Williams was the daughter of Morgan and Mary Davis Williams, and was born near Hewitt's Fork, near the present residence of Mr. and Mrs. Septhen Crabtree, on September 9, 1860. She was nearly 69 years old at the time of her death.

Her father by a previous marriage was left a widower with seven children, viz: Mrs. David W. Davis, of this community; Mrs. John H. Morgan, of Van Wert County; Dr. F.E. Williams, of Jackson; Evan Williams, of Van Wert County; and a daughter, Jane, who died at the age of 19, all of whom were at one time members of this church and all of whom have passed away.

Her mother, by a previous marriage to Mr. Benjamin Davis, was left a widow with three children, namely: Mrs. Evan Morgan, of Jackson; Mrs. John J. Davis, late of this community; and Mrs. William J. Jones (Cofadail), the lone survivor of this branch of the family.

The union of Mr. Williams and Mrs. Evans was blessed with three daughters: Eleanor, the subject of this sketch was the oldest; Winifred, wife of Joseph J. Jones of Oak Hill, is now the lone survivor for only a few years ago; Sarah, wife of David D. Jones, of Columbus passed away.

Eleanor's mother passed away when she was 17.

On March 30, 1882, she was united in marriage to Mr. David D. Davis, a neighbor boy of the Bethel community. To this union six children were born, namely: Morgan, at home; Mary Winnie, a teacher in the schools of Lakewood, Ohio; Margaret, at home; Daniel Lloyd, of Oak Hill; Evan Edgar, at home; and Anetta, now Mrs. Francis Jones, who together with the devoted husband and father and three grandchildren, Lloyd and Ruth and Robert Jones, are living and all are present at the obsequies this day.
