Jerry "Satch" Collins

Jerry "Satch" Collins, 63, of East 14th Street, Wellston, died Monday, May 11, 1998, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, following four months' failing health. Born June 2, 1934, in Wellston, he was the son of the late James and Estella Toland Collins. Mr. Collins was a 4th Ward City Councilman for 26 years and a former mayor of Wellston. A 1952 graduate of Wellston High School, he was retired from GTE where he worked for 43 years. He is survived by his wife, Joy Arthur Collins; two sons, Jerry Douglas Collins of Wellston and James Collins of Cape Coral, Fla.; two daughters, Debbie Collins of Wellston and Roxanne (David) Mullins of Jackson; a sister, Katherine Partlow of Wellston; and seven grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. The funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, today, at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel with Rev. A. B. Maloy officiating. Burial will be in the Ridgewood Cemetery. Friends will receive friends until the funeral hour today.
