PROMINENT MAN KILLED BY LIGHTNING

City Stunned By The Tragic Death of Earl Christman Friday

John Earl Christman, manager of the Driving Park Jersey dairy and one of the best known young men in the county, was killed by lightning Friday afternoon while caring for his stock near his home in South Wellston. Mr. Christman had entire charge of the dairy which belongs to his father in law, C.W. Haslett, Democratic candidate for Leiutenant Governor, and with his wife and little daughter, lived at the Haslett home. Friday afternoon he started out as usual a little before two o'clock to bring in the cows for the afternoon milking. The first storm was over but as another was approaching, he wore his rubber boots and carried an umbrella. He was unvarying in his habits and when the cows came straying in after the accustomed time and he did not return, it was feared that he had been struck by a falling limb or that the cows had wandered away and he needed help.
