Howard F. Collins


Howard Collins claimed by death

Howard F. Collins, age 72, died at 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, January 14, 1969, at his home at 322 East Sixth Street after an illness of five days. He was born in Milton Township August 7, 1896 the son of William and Christina Hayburn Collins. He was with the H. & R. Collins Clothing Store for ten years after its opening in 1937, after which he formed the Collins-Walton Coal Co. He remained in this business until his retirement January 1, 1969. He was a member of the F. O. E. Lodge, the American Legion, and the World War I Veteran Barracks at Coalton. He is survived by his wife, Opal Scott Collins, five daughters, Mrs. Charles (Phyllis) Sims of Lima, Ohio, Mrs. Kerrol (Marilyn) Neal of Fostoria, Mrs. Bill (Mary Lou) Partlow of Jackson, Mrs. Virgil (Carolyn Jean) Morgan of Wellston, and Mrs. Joe (Martha) Bitonti of Columbus, Ohio and nine grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Raymond Collins of Wellston, and three sisters, Mrs. Bill Coyle of Wellston, Mrs. Cecil Pierce of Mingo Junction, Ohio, and Mrs. Cecil Evans of Terrace Park, Ohio. Private funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p. m. at the Gaskill Chapel with the Rev. Don Hall officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery under the direction of the Gaskill Funeral Service. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday and until 1:00 p. m. Friday.
