Eliza Collins


MRS. COLLINS IS DEAD AT 82, WAS MARRIED 64 YEARS

Mrs. Jesse Collins, who had lived all her 82 years in Jackson county and much of the time in Wellston, died Wednesday night [07 Aug 1940] at 4:10 o'clock at her home, South Massachusetts Ave., at Tenth st. She had been failing some time. Mr. Collins died Sept. 25 two years ago, only two days before they were to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary. They were married Sept. 27, 1874. Mrs. Collins' maiden name was Eliza Yearrington, sometime spelled Yarrington. She was born Dec. 20, 1857 at old Jackson Furnace a daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth Yearington. She leaves ten sons and daughters and 38 grandchildren, two of whom she reared in her own home. There are 38 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her sons and daughters are: Charles Collins, Mrs. Henry Warner, Mrs. Fred Gill, Mrs. Ella Ingalls, James and Fred Collins of Wellston; Mrs. Milton Patton of New Boston; Miss Bessie Collins, George and Homer Collins at home. Miss Wilma Booth and Gerald Collins were reared by their grandmother. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the United Brethren church with Rev. H. O. Thompson officiating.
