Edward Collins


Sick Citizen Dies in Sleep. Edward Collins, Long A Wellston Plumber, Is Found Dead in Bed Wednesday Morning

Edward Collins, long a plumber in Wellston, was found dead in bed early Wednesday morning at his home, 209 north Park ave. He had been ailing some time and was taken seriously sick the day before. William Edward Collins was 61, and was born near old Lincoln Furnace March 10, 1898. His parents, now deceased, were William and Christine (Hayburn) Collins. He had lived his whole life in this vicinity. At his trade, he was recognized as an expert, and always a good workman. His wife was Bessie Burns, before their marriage, who died in 1951. He leaves five sons and a daughter: Loren Collins, a soldier in the U.S. Air Force, now stationed at Portsmouth, N. H.; Harold Collins, living at Whitehall, a Columbus suburb; and Billy, Raymond, Jack and Robert Collins of Wellston; and Mrs. Bettie Goodrich of Fairborn. Mr. Collins leaves two brothers, Howard and Raymond Collins, leading businessmen in Wellston; and three sisters, Mrs. Will Coyle of Wellston; Mrs. Ruth Pierce of Steubenville; and Mrs. Mildred Evans of Norwood. For many years he had been a member of Wellston Aerie, Fraternal Order of Eagles. The funeral will be next Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from Rogers Chapel, and Rev. D. H. Householder will conduct the service. Burial will be in Ridgewood cemetery by the side of his departed wife. The Wellston Telegram -- Wellston OH; September 17, 1959
