Darwin "Doc" Cosby


Darwin "Doc" Cosby, age 73, of N. High Street, Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at the Veterans Hospital in Chillicothe. He was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Jackson County, Ohio to the late Britt and Nancy (Jones) Cosby. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Coston Cosby, and a sister, Wilma Brown. Mr. Cosby was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean Conflict and was retired from the Veterans Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Janet (Tanner) Cosby; two sons, Martin Cosby and Keith (Tammy) Tanner, of Chillicothe; two daughters, Michelle Cosby and Holly (Joseph) Keel of Chillicothe; four sisters, Mary (Wesley) Valentine, Flossie Valentine, Wylodine Powell and Sarah Powell of Jackson; six brothers, Douglas Cosby, Stanley Cosby and William Cosby of Jackson, Heber (Daisy) Cosby of Chillicothe, Darold Cosby and Johnny Cosby of Columbus; three grandchildren, Joseph Keel, Jr., Joy (Scott) Finley and Corbin Tanner; three great-grandchildren, Donavon Keel, Summer Clark and Wesley Finley; a sister-in-law, Joann Cosby of Jackson; and special friends, Chancey, Dorothy and Nikki Valentine of Chillicothe. Calling hours were set at the Mayhew Funeral Home Friday, Oct. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were to be held at the United Community Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Roger Ford officiating and burial in Caldwell Cemetery, Ross County.
