Alexander Crabtree

Alexander Crabtree was born in Scioto Township, Jackson County, Ohio in the year 1860 and departed this life at home in Jackson, May 22, 1918, aged 58 years. Alex, as he was better know to his friends, was of a quiet, unassuming nature. He was a lover of children and little ones loved him. He never affilated himself with any church, but believed in the right and left the assurance that all was well with his soul and was ready to meet his Maker face to face. Alex has been in failing health since last September but never was he known to murmur or complain. In the last months, his suffering has been intense, but was borne with greatest fortitude. Left to mourn their great loss are two sisters, Pheobe and Lyda, two brothers, Newton and James. During his last illness, he was tenderly cared for by his sister Pheobe and the two brothers. When peace like a river attendth my way / When sorrows, like sea bellows roll; / Whatever my lot thou hast taught me to say: / It is well, it is well with my soul. / O Lord haste the day when my faith shall be sight, / The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; / The trumphets shall resound and the Lord shall descend / "Even, so" It is well with my soul.
