Wayne B. Brown


Wayne B. Brown, 88, of Sour Run Road, Wellston, died Thursday morning, March 27, 2003, at the Four Winds Nursing facility of Jackson. He had been in failing health for the past year. He was born in Jackson County, Ohio, on August 13, 1914, son of the late Charles Brown and Stella Lucas Brown. He was a 1933 graduate of Coalton High School and a well-known farmer his entire life. He was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church, a member of the Coalton School Board for several years, and a member of the Jackson-Vinton Farm Bureau. He served on the Evergreen Cemetery Association Board of Directors. He retired from the Jackson County Highway Department where he was a County Road inspector. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Avanelle Leasure Brown, in 1974; his second wife, Alva H. Brown, in 1999; two sons, Ronald Charles and John Wayne; two brothers, Herold Brown, Sr., and Charles Brown; and three sisters, Elizabeth Swaney, Ruth Dearth, and Cora Brohard. He is survived by one son, Allan (Juanita) Brown of Wellston; four daughters, Gloria Speakman of Jackson, Marilyn (Tom) Wack of Westerville, Annabelle Radick of Columbus, Karen (Kevin) Rowland of Columbus; three stepdaughters, Vonda Sloan, Anna Lischke, and Judy Hudgins; also eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 30 at 1 p.m. at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel in Wellston with the Reverend Jim Mcfadden officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the Jenkins Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 2 until 8 p.m. The family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the Evergreen Cemetery Association, c/o James T.
