Irene M. Burns

Irene M. Burns, 89, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, July 8, 2003, in Heartland of Chillicothe, following an extended illness. She was born Mar. 12, 1914, in Jackson, Ohio, the daughter of Clifford W. and Alva Crabtree Mercer. On May 2, 1941, she married Paul Byron Burns, who preceded her in death Dec. 12, 2000. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Paulette Ann and Robert T. Nusser, a son and daughter-in-law, Chester E. and Sandy B. Burns, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren Lori Wheeler, Matthew Ryan Burns and Sarah Elaine Rounsley; five great-grandchildren, a sister, Louise Goins, Springfield, OH; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Yaple, Chillicothe. Her parents, five sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. Burns had been an employee of U.S. Shoe. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, in Greenlawn Cemetery, with Rev. William Mick officiating. The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday (today).
