Louisa Arthur

The grim monster of death has again visited our community and has taken from our midst a noble woman in the person of Mrs. Silas Arthur. Louisa Masters, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Masters, was born July 9, 1862, departed this life February 28, 1922, age 60 years, 4 months, 11 days. She was married to Silas Arthur, March 2, 1879. To this union was born nine children, four having preceded her to the grave. She leaves to mourn, her husband, four sons and one daughter: John of Berlin, William of Wellston, Lafe of Vega, Mrs. John Young of Akron, and Virgil at home. Also thirteen grandchildren, two brothers and a host of relatives and friends. Mrs. Arthur joined church at Dixon Run and was baptized by Rev. Angel, 1895. She was a great church worker as long as there was church at Dixon Run. She afterward moved her membership to Vega, but was never able to attend very much. But she was always loyal to the church. She was an ideal mother, always looking for the comfort of her family. Among the many traits of her character which stand out most prominent are the good will and self denial. The neighborhood will miss her, for she was ever ready to visit the sick and do what she could for their comfort. "Farewell earth, with all thy shadows, / Farewell darkness, death and pain / She is going home to glory, / With the saints on high to reign, / There her eyes shall see the splendors / Of the city build on high, / There her feet shall tread the pavements, / Where none ever droop or die."
