HOTEL MANAGER DIES UNEXPECTEDLY FRIDAY

Lafe Arthur, Prominent Wellston Man Succumbs Suddenly to Heart Disease Tuesday

Lafe Arthur, for 35 years a prominent citizen of Wellston, died suddenly in his apartment at the Wellston hotel Tuesday night at 7 o'clock, March 22, 1927. Heart disease was the cause, Mr. Arthur had been in good health apparently and was stricken after having eaten a hearty supper. He was sick only a few minutes. He has been manager of the Wellston Hotel since it was acquired by L. B. Allender, and for several years before had been in charge of the same house. For many years Mr. Arthur was in the livery business here, and for a time in the produce trade. He was born at Keystone Furnace where his younger years were spent. For a long time he had the store at Keystone. Mr. Arthur was 66 years old. He is survived by his wife, whose maiden name was Buckley. He also leaves three brothers, William and Steve Arthur of Wellston and Silas Arthur of Keystone, and three half-brothers, Isaac, Joe and Dwight Lambert, of Wellston. He was regarded as a good business man, well-to-do and trustworthy in his dealings. Mr. Arthur had always been an ardent Democrat and took an active part in politics. He had been director of public safety under Mayor C. W. Haslett's administration. Mr. Arthur was a member of the M.E. church. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the interment in Ridgewood.
