Rodney Phillips is Hurt by Falling Pole

Former Milton Twp. Man, Related Here, Suffers Brain Concussion

Several relatives from around Wellston went to Trimble Sunday to visit Rodney Phillips, former Milton Township man, who was severely injured on Wednesday last week. Phillips was struck on the head by a mine post and suffered a concussion of the brain.

He had not regained consciousness Sunday, four days after the accident. Visiting Phillips, who was born 58 years ago in Milton Township, were Mr. and Mrs. Louis V. Reed of Finley Chapel and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Phillips of Mt. Carmel.

He is a brother of Mrs. Reed, and Mr. Phillips, and also of Mrs. Ora (Electa) Ervin of Chesnut Grove, Lucius Phillips of Mt. Carmel, William B. Phillips of Caldwell, and Homer Phillips of New Boston.

The accident happened while Mr. Phillips was working in the timber, getting out props for a mine nearby where he has been employed. A horse started, hurling a timber which struck him on the back of the head and knocked him down. Four teeth were broken out.

A letter from Trimble Tuesday morning says that he has partly regained consciousness and that while still in a critical condition he will probably recover. Mr. Phillips married Miss Bertha Collins of Milton Township and moved to Trimble 24 years ago.

He owns a farm there. They have one daughter and four sons.
